Sometimes when we are in the midst of hardships, we forget that God is greater than our troubles and He is able to do more than we might “ask or think, according to the power at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20 ESV). Ephesians 3:20 is one of my favorite verses because it reminds me that God is greater and more powerful than all the yucky stuff in this world.

God > despair

God > depression

God > anxiety

God > illness

God > broken relationships

God > financial hardships

Why is He greater? Because He has supernatural power and that same power is at work within us when we are His children (Ephesians 3:20b).

Think more about this “power.” It is the Greek word, dunamis, which means “miraculous power, might and strength.” ¹ It is the term from which we get dynamic and dynamite. This power, which comes through our faith, overcomes the impossible. “Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power” (Ephesians 6:10 NIV).

This supernatural power created the Heavens and the earth, fed the multitude, parted the Red Sea, healed the blind and raised Jesus from the dead.  If we are a child of God, this power gives us spiritual strength.

When you are feeling overwhelmed and tapped out, touch the hem of His garment (Luke 8: 40-49).   Ask Him! Ask Him for guidance! Ask Him for healing! Ask him for patience! Ask Him for comfort! Ask Him to fill you with His power to endure and overcome.

The answers may not come when and how we wish them to.  But in His good timing, God will surprise us and answer prayers in ways that exceed our expectations for His glory and our joy.  Never believe your prayers are too hard for Him to answer.   “The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Ps. 27:1 AKJV). “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the POWER at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20 -21 ESV).
